Join us for our CID Lecture with our guest speaker, Olanrewaju Adekunle, MS, Epidemiology doctoral student and research assistant in the Lopez del Amo lab.
His presentation will highlight two genome engineering approaches in the dengue vector Aedes aegypti. First, we will describe the development of a Cas12a-based system designed to generate temperature-dependent sterility as a potential strategy for mosquito population control. Second, we will present the validation of DNA base-editing technologies in Aedes aegypti to enable precise genetic modifications and the functional investigation of variants associated with insecticide resistance.
