TEPHI Grand Rounds | The Cost of Beauty: Infections Associated with Cosmetic Procedures

Event Description

In this upcoming TEPHI Grand Rounds webinar, Stacey Rose, MD, will examine the infectious disease risks associated with cosmetic procedures, an often overlooked source of bacterial infections, non-tuberculous mycobacterial infections, and even botulism. The session will explore infections linked to cosmetic procedures performed in both medical and non-medical settings, whether in the United States or as part of medical tourism. Rose will also discuss strategies to reduce infection risk and highlight important considerations for individuals with compromised immune systems.

Rose is an associate professor of medicine, infectious diseases, and director of the Center for Professionalism at Baylor College of Medicine. She serves as vice chair of the Professional Development Committee for the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA), and as a member of the IDSA Pandemic Preparedness Task Force.
