Event Description

In this upcoming TEPHI Grand Rounds webinar, Dr. Thomas Doker will explore the current landscape of melioidosis in Texas. This session will provide an overview of Burkholderia pseudomallei and melioidosis disease, highlighting environmental conditions conducive to B. mallei, susceptible animal species, and diagnosed human cases of melioidosis in Texas. Dr. Doker, a senior Air Force public health officer, brings decades of experience in private veterinary practice and his work with the U.S. military. He researched Burkholderia mallei and melioidosis during a 2-year CDC Epidemic Intelligence Service fellowship and continues to follow the related research and present at scientific forums.
