For more than 50 years, faculty, staff, and students at McGovern Medical School have worked diligently to provide compassionate care for patients of all ages. From our first class of 19 students in 1970, to our current enrollment of more than 1,000, we have grown into one of the nation’s largest medical schools and a leader in health care innovation.

Each year, we provide care to our community through more than one million outpatient visits. Our scientists explore new ways to advance treatments, and our experts collaborate across UTHealth’s six schools and our network of UT Physicians clinics and hospital affiliates, as well as throughout the Texas Medical Center and across Houston. Meanwhile, our more than 8,000 alumni have taken their expertise in specialties such as pediatrics, neurology, genetics, and orthopedic surgery across Texas, the nation, and the world.
