Handling of claims for unemployment compensation insurance

I. POLICY AND GENERAL STATEMENT

Any former employee or student appointee of The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston ("University") may file a claim for unemployment compensation. However, certain conditions must exist before a claimant is eligible to receive benefits as determined by the Texas Workforce Commission.

II. PROCEDURE

Human Resources is responsible for processing unemployment claims. Any operating unit or supervisor who receives a form pertaining to unemployment compensation is to forward the form(s) to Human Resources immediately. Failure to provide a timely and accurate response to the unemployment claim may result in the acceptance of the claim regardless of its validity.
