The George McMillan Fleming Center for Healthcare Management at UTHealth Houston School of Public Health prepares students to meet the health needs of our communities while addressing the ever-changing facets of the health care system.

Founded in 2007 through the generosity of George Fleming, the center is one of the few in the nation focused on health care management training— with one of only five Master of Public Health programs accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education.

Students participate in annual case competitions where they apply what they have learned in the classroom to real-world problems. Competing against many other universities, the School of Public Health team routinely takes top honors.

Panel discussions open to students, faculty, and the public highlight emerging topics across the full continuum of health care delivery—covering population health and operational decision-making with a broad multidisciplinary approach to health care management.

Additional support from Fleming during the campaign is helping the center meet evolving public health needs. The Fleming Center is developing an accelerator program to provide coaching on how to organize and manage health care innovations, communicate their value, and cultivate a sustainable return on investment to help successfully implement advances in health care.
