Ophthalmologists Amir Mohsenin, M.D., Ph.D., and Garvin Davis, M.D., M.P.H., performed the first "bionic eye" implant in Houston last week to help a woman suffering from vision loss due to retinitis pigmentosa. TMC News was in the operating room at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center for the procedure and will be back for follow-up coverage next month when her implant gets activated, which will allow her to see shapes and distinguish light from dark.
