U.S. News & World Report ranks two UTHealth Houston schools No. 1 in Texas
Cizik School of Nursing at UTHealth Houston and UTHealth Houston School of Public Health received top honors last week, ranking No.1 in Texas in the 2025 U.S. News & World Report Best Graduate Schools report. It’s a repeat No. 1 performance for the School of Public Health and a new accolade for Cizik School of Nursing.

Cizik School of Nursing
At Cizik School of Nursing, the Doctor of Nursing Practice program ranked No. 1 in Texas and tied for No. 33 nationally, with the Master of Science in Nursing program ranked No. 2 in Texas and tied for No. 41 nationally.
“At Cizik School of Nursing, our vision is to lead the advancement of health and high-quality health care for all. That means preparing our students at every level for success academically and professionally,” said Dean Diane Santa Maria, DrPH, MSN, RN, the Huffington Foundation Endowed Chair in Nursing Education Leadership and The Jane and Robert Cizik Distinguished Chair. “Often, this means bringing students in our different degree programs together with one another and with health care professionals from other disciplines. Being one of UTHealth Houston’s seven schools provides wonderful opportunities for interprofessional training and experience.”
In addition to the latest U.S. News graduate school rankings, the nursing school is also No. 1 in Texas among schools that receive research funding from the National Institutes of Health. Recently, the 2025 U.S. News Best Colleges ranked the school’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing program as No. 1 in Texas and tied for 26th nationally.
School of Public Health
For a second year in a row, the School of Public Health ranked No. 1 in Texas and No. 9 nationally among publicly funded institutions offering graduate-level degree programs in public health. The school also ranked No. 27 in the nation among all 209 universities offering graduate-level degree programs in public health.
