Dr. Benzer is Professor in the Implementation Science Institute and Department of Management, Policy, and Community Health, UTHealth School of Public Health. Dr. Benzer was trained as an Industrial/Organizational Psychologist and Health Services Researcher. His research focuses on organizational processes as core mechanisms shaping implementation and outcomes, with particular attention to care fragmentation and integration, team coordination under uncertainty and competing demands, and how organizations balance multiple goals related to quality, access, safety, and efficiency. Current funded projects examine access to community mental health care for Texas youth at risk of suicide, integrated care for individuals with a history of homelessness in Austin, TX, and a randomized trial of a work stress intervention for harm reduction workers in Texas and neighboring states. Dr. Benzer participates in the Bipolar Disorder Integrated Network with Dell Medical School. Dr. Benzer is also a U.S. Army Veteran having served at Fort Hood, TX and Joint Task Force Southwest Asia.
