Dr. Hammza Hamoudi is an MD postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Psychiatry with an extensive international background and multidisciplinary expertise. Originally from Brazil, Dr. Hamoudi earned his MD from Zhejiang University and has lived across five different countries, achieving fluency in Portuguese, English, Spanish, Arabic, and Chinese. Dr. Hamoudi began his clinical career as a physician at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University, where he practiced medicine and conducted research across a variety of medical fields. He later transitioned to academia as a Research Scholar at Hong Kong Polytechnic University’s Department of Rehabilitation Science, working with a team of implementation scientists. Currently, Dr. Hamoudi focuses on psychiatry research, specializing in neuroimaging, clinical trials, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and evidence-based practice. His research is primarily centered on mood disorders, including bipolar disorder and treatment-resistant depression, while also extending to ADHD and sleep disorders. With over six years of experience teaching medicine in group lectures and languages, and one year as a guest lecturer addressing cultural topics, he has contributed to academic education in diverse settings. Prior to pursuing a medical career, Dr. Hamoudi gained industry experience as an AutoCAD designer and factory manager, experiences that contribute to a multidisciplinary approach to clinical and academic problem-solving. Looking ahead, Dr. Hamoudi aims to advance the field of psychiatry through academic leadership, with plans to join the faculty as a professor and pursue a residency in psychiatry.

Dr. Hamoudi’s research focuses on psychiatry, encompassing neuroimaging studies, clinical trials, and systematic reviews and meta-analyses that investigate evidence-based practices for mood disorders—specifically treatment-resistant depression and bipolar disorder. He is also involved in educational initiatives related to evidence-based practice.
