Why University Housing?

University Housing consists of three unique apartment communities. The Phase I property (7900 Cambridge) was built in 1982 and offers first and second floor units in one, two and three bedroom floor plans. The Phase II property (1885 El Paseo built in 2005) and Phase III property (1885 El Paseo built in 2014) offer contemporary style living environments with four floors of one and two bedroom apartments and a four story parking garage located in the middle of the complexes.

All students, staff and faculty of UTHealth, Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) and MD Anderson Cancer Center are encouraged to apply for Phase I and II. Phase III is available only to full-time UTHealth students. Each apartment is carpeted and comes equipped with an all-electric kitchen. The El Paseo properties offer washers and dryers in each apartment. The Cambridge property offers coin and credit card operated washers and dryers housed in three laundry facilities.

Other amenities include 24-hour quality maintenance, a club house and convenient access to the UTHealth Recreation Center and shuttle service included for UTHealth Students ONLY, all others can purchase a membership.

Access to the University Housing property is controlled by a 24-hour guard.

The mission of University Housing is to provide a reasonably priced, well maintained, quality living environment to promote the academic success of students, faculty, and staff of UTHealth, BCM, and MD Anderson Cancer Center.

  • What Utilities are not included in my rent?

    Residents are responsible for electricity, internet and cable. Xfinity is the only cable provider permitted at UT Housing.

  • Do the apartments come furnished?

    No, each apartment has a fridge, microwave, and dishwasher. Only Phase II and III have stackable washer and dryers in the unit. Phase I has coin operated washer and dryers on property.

  • Can I use UT Shuttle and the Rec Center?

    All students have access to UT shuttles and Rec Center through school fees. All others can contact the office at housing@uth.tmc.edu to receive the needed form to fill out, return form to the Rec Center front desk and pay the $300 6-month membership fee via check or cash during business hours.

  • Roommate Policy/ Matching

    You are allowed to find a roommate but we do not match roommates. If you are applying for a two bedroom and do not have a roommate you are responsible for the full cost of the apartment.

    Roommates must be affiliated (UTHealth, Baylor, MD Anderson) with the exception of related individuals. For this purpose, “related” is limited to spouses/significant others, siblings, parents and/or children of the primary occupant.

  • Who is permitted to live at UT Housing?

    In Phase I or II, the primary resident must be faculty, student, or staff at one of the following: UTHealth, Baylor, MD Anderson.

    In Phase III, the primary resident and roommate must be a full-time UTHealth learner (student, post-doc, resident, or fellow).

  • What is the student pricing?

    Student pricing is marked as * and includes affiliated students, residents, and fellows, all others is marked ** and includes affiliated faculty and staff.

  • How do I apply for the waitlist?

    Our annual waitlist is every January. The waiting list for 2024 will open at 6p on January 19. All apartments offered will be off the waitlist until it is exhausted. Please e-mail housing@uth.tmc.edu for walk-in availability starting October 1, 2024 for those affiliated with UTHealth and MD Anderson.
